Digitalization is the process of transforming traditional business processes, services and products with digital technologies. Digital Transformation is the art of implementing human-technology-process structures with a new perspective (new business model) that will enable businesses to be faster, more efficient and more competitive. This transformation involves the transition of businesses from a physical environment to a digital platform and often requires the use of data analytics, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and other digital technologies.

Companies have to adapt to new business models by increasing Customer Experience, making the Organizational Structure durable, constantly improving Operational Processes and developing Technological Infrastructures. Only in this way can they continue to survive. In the next 5 years, global companies (especially Germany, Japan, USA, Korea, Singapore and China) aim to adapt to the Digital Transformation requirements. Unfortunately, our country has not been able to take sufficient steps regarding digital transformation. The average score received by companies in our country in Digital Maturity Assessment studies is 3.5 out of 5. To make this situation better;

  1. Increasing customer satisfaction by giving importance to providing better service to its customers and providing better customer experience and loyalty,
  2. Providing a competitive advantage by creating faster and more effective working environments with digitalized business processes compared to its competitors,
  3. Increasing efficiency and reduce human errors and save costs through autonomous processes with the help of digital technologies.
  4. Big data analytics should create valuable information that will make it easier for businesses to make strategic decisions.

The prerequisite for Digital Transformation is to change the mindset of our employees. In other words, changes that our people do not accept or embrace do not become permanent. Peter F. Drucker, known as the management master, expressed this situation with these words: “Culture eats strategy for breakfast!”.

The purpose of Digital Transformation is to make a Current Situation Analysis (Corporate Digital Scorecard) by taking an up-to-date photograph of the company’s strategic/managerial, organizational and operational working conditions within the scope of Industry 4.0, to ensure the implementation of priority projects to reach the targeted range with the findings, suggestions and solutions to be obtained, and to perpetuate the innovative approach.

Today, 2/3 of Digital Transformation projects on a global scale fail. The reasons for this are; in addition to the formation of scattered ideas within the company, ignorance of the real needs regarding the processes, lack of skills that require documentation and lack of sufficient human resources with project-making competence, the most important is the lack of support from the management. For a successful Digital Transformation Project, it is necessary to have a good guide, a comprehensive business analysis, a road map to determine priorities and importance, and an infrastructure to support the digital corporate culture.

As a result, Digital Transformation; with a data-oriented working systematic, it increases efficiency in production, optimization of processes, quality in human communication, as well as enabling faster and more accurate decisions to be taken against problems/situations that occur.
